The City of Spokane Water Department is looking for Project Employee to be a part of
our winning team, contributing to the success of our city.

This is a Project Employee position that will work variable hours per week with a possible duration of around a year. This work requires normal attention to prevent errors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and research technical system and application problems, and coordinates their resolution.
  • Prepares documentation of methods and instructions.
  • Develop Technical documentation on how to support and use the 18 software and technology solutions in the Water Department.
  • Examples would include: How to add a user, how to configure new devices, self-help documentation on how to login to a device or system.
  • Take documentation as completed and organize on a new Document management solution or other area as designated.
  • Under general supervision, performs information technology support work and administrative coordination, emphasizing the general administration of specialized computer programs and business systems with the Water Department.
  • Work with department to move current documentation from current locations (shared drive, etc) and migrate those to a SharePoint Document Management System.
  • Will require working with users to set up a robust and searchable structure automatic review schedules.
  • Determine optimal use and usability of the new platform and bring creative solutions to meet business needs.

 Requirements of Work:
  • Methods and techniques of providing application support, maintenance and administration including areas such as software installation, troubleshooting and testing..
  • Principles and practices of business information technology customer service.
  • Data organization and access methods in computerized systems.
Skills in:
  • Using tact, discretion, initiative and moderately independent judgment within established guidelines.
  • Identifying technology related problems.*Applying technical knowledge to solve problems or accomplish tasks.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
Ability to:
  • Read, analyze and interpret moderately complex technical information including technical procedures and government regulations. Both abstract and concrete variables.
  • Investigate and evaluate information quickly and accurately.
  • Communicate technical information systems concepts in a timely and understandable fashion to non- technical personnel.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
While performing the essential functions of the job, the incumbent is regularly required to walk, stand, bend and sit; use hands to operate a keyboard, grasp, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms, above the shoulders and below the waist; speak and hear normal speech in person and on the telephone; and lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 20 pounds.

  • Applicant must possess a valid driver's license without restrictions.
