The City of Springfield Finance Department is hiring a License Inspector!
License Inspectors are responsible for performing field inspections and audits, identifying businesses without a license, and working with business owners to ensure code compliance. License Inspectors read and interpret City Code and State Statute, review supporting documentation, calculate and collect payments, issue tickets for non-compliance, and represent the License Division at Municipal Court as required. This position involves a great deal of communication, with internal and external customers, as well as other governmental entities.
The License Division of the Finance Department consists of License Inspectors, Licensing Representatives, a License Technician, and a Licensing Supervisor. The team places a strong emphasis on customer service, best practices, and code compliance.

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Public Administration or related field;
- One year of responsible experience;
- Directly related experience can be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing/Certification
- If operating vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties, must possess a valid Driver's License.
