Our SPARC team is looking for a Youth Program Specialist to join the our team!
What you'll do:
- Create innovative and engaging experiences for SPARC Youth Programs, Day Camps and Community Centers.
- Guarantee program success by effectively maintaining program excellence standards, safety procedures, state regulations, and program evaluations.
- Lead and mentor a team of variable hour employees to implement positive behavior support, innovative programming, and a safe place for participants.
- Work within a variety of recreational programs throughout the year.
- Excellent customer service skills to build positive relationships with children, families, school personnel, and community members.
- Passion for collaborating with team members to generate creative ideas that connect with youth and meet the needs of the school community.
- Proven success with strong organizational skills while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Relationships: Build meaningful relationships with the SPARC team, our participants and families, and the community!

SPARC (Schools, Parks Are Reaching Communities) is a section of the Nationally Accredited and Gold Medal Award Winning Springfield-Greene County Park Board. Our mission is to engage youth and families in memorable enrichment and recreation experiences in schools, parks, and our community.
We have over 25 years of experience offering SAFE, FUN, and AFFORDABLE Summer Camps, Youth Sport Leagues, Before & After School Programs, Enrichment Clubs, and Community Events!

Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training
- Three years of experience working with and around youth;
OR
- Equivalent of 1.5 years of experience working in the SPARC division as a temporary, part-time, or seasonal employee;
OR
- Related college course credit from an accredited college or university in a related field of study (Education, Early Childhood, Recreation, etc.) may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED
- Youth-specific recreational programming experience.
Licensing/Certification
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP)is desirable. If operating a motor vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties, must possess a valid Driver’s License. CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within the probationary period.
