What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Clerk II position at City of St. Petersburg?
This position performs detailed accounting, budgetary and personnel/payroll record support work of moderate difficulty in the City’s Libraries. Work involves data entry, creation of documents, receipt and payment of invoices, records maintenance, and information retrieval using City and departmental systems. An employee in this class may assist a professional or administrative supervisor with more complex clerical fiscal functions.
Salary: $17.76 - $27.15 Hourly

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency supplemented by the successful completion of some college level courses in bookkeeping, accounting, business or a related field.
- Have considerable knowledge of business English and a high level of expertise in proofreading and use of correct punctuation, spelling and grammar.
- Be able to perform detail work involving written or numeric data.
- Be able to make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
- Be able to compose complete, well-written correspondence and documents.
- Be able to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Have at least one year of responsible experience performing accounting and related work.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Have skill in the operation of calculators, computers and Oracle eBusiness, Kronos, Microsoft Excel and Word software applications.
- Have considerable knowledge of accounting principles, accounts receivable practices and procedures, purchasing procedures, budgetary principles, and personnel/payroll policies and procedures.
- Are able to competently apply accounting principles to the maintenance of accounting records.
