The City of Sterling Heights is seeking to hire a part-time Code Enforcement Officer that is hard-working, organized, and committed to public health and safety by ensuring compliance with City codes and ordinances.
The new part-time Code Enforcement Officer is eligible to receive a top of the market compensation starting at $27.5314 / hr and a generous schedule of paid time off (PTO).
Position Summary
Under the supervision and direction of the City Development Director, the part-time Code Enforcement Officer is principally responsible for enforcing the City's property maintenance and other applicable health, safety, and welfare codes and ordinances through inspection of properties throughout the City and administering the violation / enforcement / abatement process to assure compliance.
Code Enforcement Officers must be able to understand and apply technical codes to in-the-field conditions and exercise good judgment.
Organizational skills and diligent follow-up are essential to the position as Code Enforcement Officers must administer multiple cases within their assigned sections.
The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, is integral to this position as interaction with the public and presentation of cases to the Board of Ordinance Appeals is frequent.
