Position: OPERATOR TRAINEE – WATER DIVISION
Department: PUBLIC SERVICES
Hourly Range: $15.72—$25.33 D.O.Q.
Closing Date: OPEN UNTIL FILLED
Treatment plant apprenticeship position providing on-the-job experience and knowledge for achieving licensing/certification in the assigned area of operations. Under general operator supervision, learns to perform skilled work in operation and maintenance of the reverse osmosis (RO) water facility, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulatory criteria and all safety policies and procedures. Receives instruction in Operations, Process Analyses and Technical Training. Assists in other functions as assigned. Education: Required—High School Diploma or GED equivalency. Preferred: Associate’s or higher degree in chemistry, biology or related field. Vocational/specialized training in the area of treatment operations. Prior Water operations coursework or experience. Licensure/Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. Successful completion of testing for Florida DEP Class “C” Water Treatment Operator’s License is preferred. Successful completion of testing for Florida DEP Class “C” Water Treatment Plant Operator’s License required within 1 year of hire. Florida DEP Class “C” Water Treatment Plant Operator’s License required within 2 years of employment. Class “B” (CDL) License with Air Brake Endorsement and Tanker Endorsement required within 180 days of employment, depending on area of assignment.
