What are the responsibilities and job description for the PERMIT SUPERVISOR position at CITY OF TAYLOR?
Job Details
Supervision of assigned staff including delegation of assignments, performance management, training, etc.
Processes building permits including work without permit; code enforcement cases and scheduling inspections.
Answers phone, email and walk-in customer questions regarding building permitting, inspections and code enforcement processes.
Provides quality customer service to the customers of the department, other city staff and all other work contacts.
Develop and implement process improvements including creating reports, standard operating procedures and new ways of operating
Prepare daily financial reports to reconcile permit fee income. Prepare management reports.
Assess simple permit requests, such as sign permits, assess backflow inspection reports and occasionally undertakes site visits
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of municipal permit clerk, technician experience, building construction experience or equivalent
- OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License
- ICC Permit Technician certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Notary Public Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months
