What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Attendant (Seasonal) position at City of Tucker?
The City of Tucker is seeking qualified candidates for part-time Pool Manager positions with the Parks and Recreation Department. The city pools open mid-May and close on Labor Day and are open daily 10 a.m.-8 p.m. The successful candidate must possess basic supervisory skills in aquatic facility management, customer service, programming, marketing, and communication while effectively assisting with a supervisory role of part-time seasonal lifeguards. Each employee may work up to 30 hours per week.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Position has direct supervision of pool facility and guests.
· May assign duties to lifeguards.
Essential Function and Duties/Responsibilities:
· Maintains staff rotations and breaks.
· Maintains discipline at the facility.
· Makes decisions regarding refusal and removal of patrons with health problems, intoxication, bathing attire, and behavioral and disciplinary issues.
· Assigns duties to lifeguards.
· Operation of city vehicle and driving responsibilities to transport passengers, travel to meetings, conferences, events, park visits, and other daily operations.
· Ensures all policies, rules and regulations are enforced by staff and followed by participants.
· Schedules weekly staff in-service training and documents all training.
· Responsible for opening and/or closing the facility.
· Ensures the pool is always properly staffed and clean.
· Responsible for ensuring proper water chemistry at all times.
· Responsible for checking and maintaining all equipment at the facility.
· Responsible for maintaining inventory of pool/ facility supplies.
· Prepares reports as needed.
· Makes and records daily deposits.
· Handles grievances of members and guests.
· Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Ability to learn and enforce the camps’ safety and operating rules.
· Must attend staff meetings and orientation.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
· Knowledge of water chemistry.
· Ability to demonstrate swimming proficiency.
· Ability to handle rescue activities.
· Good customer service and people skills.
· Basic computer skills.
· Prefer ability to pass a Red Cross Lifeguard Cert. (with provided training)
· Candidates must have a valid and current First Aid and CPR Certified or pass certification prior to the start of the season.
· Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Education, Credentials, Experience:
· Certified basic lifeguard skills/duties or able to attain certification.
· One (1) year of management experience and previous cash handling preferred.
· First Aid and CPR Certification (will provide training).
· Must pass reference checks and background screenings.
Physical Characteristics:
· The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects and climbs ladders.
· Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
Environmental Factors:
· The work is typically performed in an office or outdoors. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, and occasional cold or inclement weather.
· Work is conducted at a pool; you may be in the heat and exposed to weather elements.
