What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Repair/Streets position at City of West Allis?
Under direct supervision, an employee will learn and/or perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks associated with street, alley, sidewalk, and sewer construction and repair. The tasks require certain skills/techniques or special knowledge which generally is acquired through experience.

Salary: The hourly starting rate range for this non-exempt position is $20.55 to $23.49. Appointment above the minimum is possible based on qualifications and experience, subject to approval.
West Allis Resident Incentive Pay: An employee who resides within the City of West Allis shall be granted an additional 2% on top of the established pay for their position.
- Routine maintenance of sanitary sewer mains operating sanitary sewer jet, examining mains for issues, maintenance, and evaluation purposes.
- Routine maintenance of catch basins, manholes including hydro excavating with vac-all.
- Operates trucks and other equipment common to construction and maintenance activities.
- Assists in building storm sewers, catch basins and sanitary manholes including shoring job sites as needed.
- Crackfilling and potholing work with asphalt, including patch work in streets, alleys, curbs and sidewalks.
- Assists in emergency work of all types including, but not limited to, snow/ice control, flooding, wind storms, all natural disasters, and sanitary sewer pumping.
- Concrete finishing and laboring including all prep work such as digging, grading, setting/building forms for pavement, curbs, and sidewalks.
- Performs finished asphalt work including all prep work such as removal of debris, grading, and "tacking".
- Keeps simple written records, documentation, and reports for all work performed and materials used.
- Repair, install, and at times terminating storm or sanitary mains and laterals.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 – 3 Years Concrete finishing experience (all aspects), construction knowledge, labor
- Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and an acceptable driving record per City Policy
- CDL (Class B, C with airbrakes and Tanker Endorsement (N) (May be obtained within 6 months of hire. City provides training.)
