What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Camera System Technician (Part Time) position at City of York, PA?
This position will provide direct technical support to the York City Police Department regarding the in-car and body-worn camera systems. The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and basic maintenance of existing systems, including replacing camera system components in vehicles and body-worn units. This individual will follow up on requests to burn videos from the systems for evidence and internal investigations. Regular interactions with law enforcement personnel, both in person & via email is required. In this position, organization, accurate record-keeping, and a strong familiarity with the department’s records management system will also be a necessity. The abilities to prioritize tasks and to learn and adapt to new technologies is key to this position.
Manage the video disc-generation for in car and body camera systems. Receive video requests from police personnel. Burn copies of requested videos to be held in evidence. Forward requested videos to appropriate parties as required. Download and upload camera footage from Vehicle Units and Body Worn Camera units to the camera server.
Respond to service requests for technical support based on priority. Oversee onsite installation and preventative maintenance of equipment/electronics devices. Facilitate periodic and corrective maintenance on installed systems relating to video recording systems modify or update equipment when necessary. (This may be both hands-on and involve setting appointments with the manufacturer or service provider.)

High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Computer Science Certification from Accredited Trade School or Associates Degree Computer Science preferred.
Over one year up to and including three years’ experience using camera systems, desktops, notebooks, mobile devices and phone configuration, administration, and monitoring.
Valid Class C driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Must pass internal background check including PA State Background Clearance, FBI Background Clearance including fingerprinting and Computerized Voice Stress Analysis and drug screen.
Employee in this position must comply with Article 165 "Employment Provisions", of the Codified Ordinances of The City of York, Pennsylvania, Section 165.07 "Residency Requirements" effective February 1, 1994.
