POSITION SUMMARY:
The Traffic Control Lead 4 works under the direction of a contractor to identify the various needs and or phases of a job. The Lead engages in providing onsite leadership and supervision of the work crew to successfully complete a job. The Lead 4 is tasked to assess their work crew’s performance and to provide feedback to the City Rise Safety Team. The Lead specializes in the following: traffic control equipment installation, flagging setups, flagger control, job supervision, setting an example for the traffic control crew and giving guidance to the apprentices. A Lead has the responsibility to protect the lives of our customers, motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and themselves on the roadway.
POSITION DUTIES:
- Supervise job site and the crew
- Onsite client contact
- Maintain a consistent and unrelenting focus on safety throughout all job functions.
- Manage day to day work zone set up, maintenance and tear down. Meeting or exceeding customer, state, federal and company expectations.
- Follow company and MUTCD guidelines for effective, safe well-managed work zones.
- Drive company trucks.
- Tow trailers.
- Keep equipment in trucks well organized and in working order.
- Develop superior knowledge of work zone setup and professional traffic control responsibilities.
- Provide the highest level of customer service to all customers. This includes on-time arrival and professionally managed work zones
- Provide suitable feedback to the technician and apprentices on their performance and record such feedback in evaluations collected by the operations management.
- Responsible in reporting to operations management and safety and work-related injuries, including providing required completed reports.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to recognize dangers using hearing and vision.
- Ability to manage stressful situations and take safe action to avoid serious injuries to any pedestrians, vehicles, customers, and employees.
- Ability to understand traffic signals/signs, traffic plans and customer requests.
- Ability to communicate with customers, the public, and with other team members.
- Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred not required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Two years in a similar role or equivalent.
- Must have a valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record (must be insurable through
company insurance policy). - No driving violations within 3 years.
- No more than 1 moving violation within 3 years.
- Flagging one year (preferred).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent lifting of heavy objects, ability to carry and place traffic cones to ensure the safety of the work zone. Lifting may be up to 50 lbs.
- Lift, carry, place, and assemble traffic control signs in the proper order to manage work zone traffic.
- Stand for extended periods of time while flagging, in various weather conditions, and different times of day/night.
- Various noise decibel levels.
- Stooping for prolonged periods of time.
- Dexterity in the use of hand and fingers.
- Reaching, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing and Vision (up close, at a distance, along the periphery).
