Position Overview

City Year Providence (CYPVD) seeks an experienced, collaborative, and innovative Community Partnerships Manager to join our dynamic team. This role will identify and develop local partnerships and add capacity to local recruiting efforts to create a strong pipeline of prospective City Year Providence AmeriCorps Members.

The CPM will be responsible for developing recruitment sourcing partnerships in the local community by leveraging new and existing partnerships with high schools, community colleges, and organizations serving youth across Providence and the surrounding areas. The CPM will increase awareness of the opportunity to serve as a member of the City Year Providence team for young adults ages 17-25 by building strategic partnerships with local youth stakeholders. By fostering lasting community collaborations, you will help maintain a robust pipeline of potential City Year Providence AmeriCorps Members.

Job Description

This role will support City Year’s mission through direct engagement with potential applicants between the ages of 17-25. This position will require day travel in and around the Providence community and Rhode Island. It is an opportunity to branch out into the community and create access to what it looks like to serve as a City Year Providence AmeriCorps Member. A significant portion of this role’s time will be spent attending in-person visits and events to build relationships with partners, champions, and prospective AmeriCorps members.  While attending events, the CPM will wear City Year branded apparel. This position with work closely with City Year’s National Corps Talent Acquisition team. This position will report to the Director of People and Operations. Key Responsibilities

The Community Partnership Manager will be responsible for leveraging new and existing partnerships with a variety of organizations that serve and are connected to youth across Providence and the surrounding areas. They will increase awareness of the opportunity for adults ages 17-25 to serve as a member of the City Year Providence team as AmeriCorps Members working in schools as Student Success Coaches. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and assess youth-facing organizations and educational institutions (high schools, community colleges, local organizations) within Rhode Island and the greater Southern New England area to supplement national recruitment partners.
  • Build a strategic partnership plan inclusive of goals, strategies, and tactics to facilitate recruiting leads for City Year Greater Providence.
  • Implement cultivation strategies to increase City Year brand awareness among champions (school counselors, faculty, and staff) within each partner institution, and opportunities for them to promote City Year to prospects.
  • Support the recruitment of Returning AmeriCorps Members who wish to serve a second year with City Year Providence.

Partnerships and Recruitment:

  • Identify and assess youth-facing organizations and educational institutions (high schools, community colleges, universities) within Providence and surrounding communities to supplement national recruitment partners.
  • Build a strategic partnership plan inclusive of goals, strategies, and tactics to facilitate recruiting leads for City Year Providence.
  • Implement cultivation strategies to increase City Year brand awareness among champions within each partner institution and opportunities for them to promote City Year to prospects.
  • Identify opportunities to promote City Year service directly to prospects through events, community presentations, champion introductions, facilitating professional development workshops, etc.
  • Deepen opportunities to source candidates from colleges and universities, Providence Public Schools and other public school districts within Rhode Island, by partnering with site staff on a holistic district partnership approach that includes working with counselors.
  • Actively spend time in local high schools cultivating relationships with champions 
  • Participate in activities with high school and community college students to introduce the opportunity of serving with City Year
  • Attend Career Fairs and make High School, Community College & 4-year University campus visits and facilitate engaging presentations  Partner closely with members of the national Corps Talent Acquisition team to support a successful hand-off from local sourcing to the nationally led application and admissions process.
  • Partner with the national recruitment and marketing teams to help tell the City Year Greater Providence’s story, it’s impact and AmeriCorps member experience.

Civic & Community Engagement: 

  • Develop and cultivate partnerships with community leaders/organizations to deepen CYPVD's civic engagement impact in under-resourced neighborhoods. 
  • Identify and represent CYPVD at key community convenings, working groups, etc. that support Providence’s Community engagement strategy.
  • Work closely with Impact and Development departments to support the execution of Providence-wide initiatives (e.g., Opening Day, Red Jacket Ceremony, MLK Day, Hasbro Day of Joy, and ongoing volunteer opportunities). 
  • Serve as a powerful CYPVD representative at local events and community functions. 
  • Work collaboratively with AmeriCorps Experience Manager to engage and manage CYPVD’s alumni outreach plan
  • Coordinate engagement opportunities (e.g., school visits) to gain insight into City Year service targeting new partnerships, stakeholders, and champions

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of professional experience in recruitment/youth development/community development and engagement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Public Speaking, ability to speak and engage in large crowd settings and with diverse communities.
  • The ability to speak Spanish and/or multiple languages is a plus.
  • An organized strategist, you plan long-term and implement day-to-day with consistency. Takes initiative in managing several projects with the utmost attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, interests, and skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with an ability to build the capacity of peers.
  • Solution-oriented critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Organized, ready to learn new systems and use them with fidelity, including CRM software like Salesforce  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Platforms, including Excel.
