Senior Accountant
Senior Accountants must align the goals of the position with the goals of the department and the organization by keeping in mind the underlying values of a work product that is Accurate, Meaningful and Timely (“AMT”).
Senior Accountants are expected to be able to apply critical thinking skills beyond the basics of what a Staff Accountant can do. Senior Accounts should also be able to direct and guide junior accounting staff to help them grow in their jobs. Senior Accountants should be able to demonstrate thorough analysis and understanding of complex issues using accounting pronouncements as a guide.
Reports to: Controller/Assistant Controller
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts; preparing financial statements.

- Analyzes and verifies information by developing spreadsheet reports
- Takes lead in the monthly close process and all monthly reporting
- Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts
- Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts
- Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
- Protects an organization's value by keeping information confidential
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed
- Assists Staff Accountant(s) and Accounts Payable Specialist(s) by answering questions, providing guidance and reviewing workpapers

Education & Experience:
- College degree in Accounting is required
