JOB
SUMMARY:
Under general direction, manages a
complex shop operation and records system and plans, schedules, and makes the repairs and maintenance of a wide variety of fleet,
field, golf turf specific and handheld equipment utilized by the City's Parks and Recreation Department,
Golf Division.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Ability to oversee a shop
operation and records system to monitor maintenance schedules, fuel records,
procuring of parts and supplies, specifications, maintenance and performance of
various pieces of equipment, parts inventories, staff training and hazardous
waste control.
2. Ability to diagnose equipment problems and make repairs and
services for a wide variety of fleet, golf specific mowing equipment to include greens, tees, fairway
and rough mowers, equipment including trucks, backhoes, trenchers, tractors,
chemical applicators, utility vehicles, and handheld equipment such as string
trimmers, chain saws, power blowers, etc.
3. Ability to properly operate specialized and routine repair
equipment such as reel grinding, pumps, motors, hand tools, and the ability to
properly operate the equipment and vehicles being repaired.
4. Ability to work on and have knowledge of fluid hydraulics,
automotive electronics, gas and arc welding, fabrication of specialty tools,
gas and diesel engines, detailed reel maintenance and set up for precision
greens cut to include backlapping and diagnose and repair electrical systems.
5. Ability to work effectively with the vendors and staff to
address inquiries for information, assistance and resolution of repairs and new best practices related to fleet,
field, turf and hand-held equipment being utilized to include working with
Superintendent and Golf Maintenance Crew in training and safety of equipment
with entire staff.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
6. Ability to plan, coordinate and
schedule special programs such as operator safety, vendor demonstrations, equipment orientation, and Total Productive
Maintenance programs.
7. Ability to lead staff and train
staff in the proper set up, operation and periodic maintenance of equipment.
8. Ability to serve as the manager
on duty in the absence of the superintendent and assistant superintendent, and
to supervise staff while they work in the shop on equipment.
