CivicActions is growing. We’re hiring our first Director of People to help us expand the team and ensure we’re living our values of openness, care and balance by investing in a psychologically safe and inclusive remote work culture.

As the Director of People, you will work directly with all employees of CivicActions. Your focus will be on ensuring a positive employee experience for our team members as well as strategic growth and planning for our ever-changing company needs. 

Early projects will focus on training and supporting new managers, hiring process improvements and driving DEIA goals. Ongoing management will be focused on people planning, staff forecasting, hiring, recruiting, performance management, and talent growth — all while helping build processes, mature our systems and maintain our culture of openness, care and balance.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implement business-aligned and integrated approaches to talent management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Evaluate the organization’s talent pipeline to include identifying mission critical positions, the competencies required for those positions and the best methods to ensure a healthy pipeline of talent to meet current and future needs.
  • Develop and execute people development programs.
  • People Planning: Manage, track, negotiate, and communicate people plans for shifting project needs
  • Forecasting: Forecast staffing and track utilization on projects to ensure that there is alignment between the people and business strategies 
  • Oversee and lead performance management 
  • Play a key role in helping to attract, manage, develop, motivate, and retain high performers.
  • Develop rationales founded in financial and business acumen and connect those to organizational objectives for investments in human capital management initiatives.
  • Manage the Hiring & People Ops team
  • Support communication between the executive team and all staff after meetings and activities to ensure understanding of processes and decisions, supporting feedback, and maximizing understanding and alignment

  • Knowledge of best practices for human capital initiatives for high-impact organizational performance and ability to apply practices to industry and organizational challenges
  • Ability to efficiently manage remote team members
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to effectively manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, to ensure client and internal needs are being met in a timely manner
  • Possess sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
  • Ability to manage up, down, and across the organization.
  • Superior interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude. Ability to manage challenging interpersonal situations, including employee and client relationships
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, programs and priorities at the same time
  • An understanding of the importance of continuous learning, self-awareness, owning mistakes and continuous improvement
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles

Preferred Experience

  • 7 years of applicable work experience in a related field
  • 3 years experience serving as a human capital manager or related
  • 3 years experience working for a professional services firm

Salary Range

$145,000 - $175,000 USD per year

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
