Air Quality Engineer/Scientist

Overview

As an Environmental Engineer/Scientist for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you’ll be directly involved with work under the direction of project managers and other senior staff to assist clients in the manufacturing, mining, power, natural gas, and waste industries to obtain regulatory permits, expand their existing operations, and comply with ongoing state and federal regulations. Primarily office work will be involved; however, field work may be involved periodically. Field services may include site visits to industrial facilities, visible evaluation of air emissions, ambient air monitoring, real-time instrument measurements of air pollutant concentrations, and other activities as directed. Office services will require strong analytical and good communication skills to evaluate data, perform calculations, learn environmental regulations, and complete regulatory forms.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related fields;
• 2 to 5 years’ consulting, compliance, or industry air quality experience;
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills;
• Experience with air emission inventory calculations and air permit application preparation;
• Knowledge of MO & IL regulations, and USEPA air quality regulations;
• Aptitude to learn and apply engineering software;
• Good time management, project management, and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Additional qualifications that are a plus:

• Air dispersion modeling experience using AERMOD;
• Knowledge of New Source Review procedures;
• Knowledge of Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know (EPCRA) programs;
