Operator FL Evaporator/Crystallizer

Job Summary

Evaporate and crystallize process solution in preparation for separation and drying. Work hours: 12 hour rotating shifts, however business needs may require additional hours worked.

Essential Job Functions

· Collect samples and test density, pH, total solids, crystal slurry %;

· Control product crystal size by observing samples, HMI and process data;

· Monitor and operate assigned process using HMI control software;

· Monitor density, tank levels, equipment and process conditions (temperature, vacuum pressure, pump current);

· Dissolve non-conforming product as needed;

· Accurately and legibly record sample and process data;

· Perform other duties as necessary;

· Ability to participate in a high performance team-based environment that is fast-learning and adaptive;

· Communicate effectively and participate in a continuous improvement culture, including utilizing problem solving skills; be flexible to all shifts;

· Willing to cross-train into other areas; ensure conformance to standard work by following the process; communicate any issues to the appropriate resources in a timely manner;

· General computer use skills, e.g. Excel.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

· Must be able to lift and pull 50 pounds;

· Able to work rotating 12 hour shifts;

· Occasional confined space entry;

· Ability to remain in a stationary position up to 60% of shift;

· Ability to frequently move about the site to collect samples;

· Ability to ascend/descend stairs and ladders to get to control room and to move about site to collect samples.

· Hot/cold and dusty/wet environment, depending on location in refinery building;

· Must be able to wear full-face respirator and protective equipment for testing. This includes minimal facial hair in order to ensure proper fit in of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma / GED

· Production experience is a plus.
