What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator In-Training OR Licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator position at Clallam County?
Clallam County is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plan Operator to perform troubleshooting, maintenance, installation and repair work and technical work related to the operation of the County's wastewater treatment plants and sewage pump lift pump stations, and other related collection system components located in Clallam Bay and Sekiu Washington.
Employee must be able to respond to the Clallam Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant within 30 minutes.
Wages will depend on the position hired for:
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator-In-Training 23.558 to 28.703 per hour
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator 26.003 to 31.682 per hour (wage listed in posting)
No experience required to become an Operator-In-Training; however, to become an Operator I requires one (1) year of experience in a treatment plant, AND a Washington State Level I Operator's Certificate - maintain certification continuing education units (CEU's).
Individuals are expected to apply considerable practical knowledge of the skill field to resolve unusual and irregular problems which may occur, and to contribute suggestions for improvement in operations and procedures. Requires interpretation and reasoning in area of specialization, especially in non-routine, new or particularly troublesome aspects. Errors in judgment could have substantial impact on public safety, legal liabilities and costs.
This is primarily a maintenance position and as such requires the ability to use tools necessary in making general repairs and adjustments to motors, pumps and other equipment in the plant and pumping stations; ability to read meters and gauges correctly, act quickly and competently. Ability to collect samples and perform routine laboratory testing.
