As a Financial Counselor, you take ownership of providing high quality financial counseling and coaching for participants in the CareerLink program experiencing career transitions or the loss of employment. You may engage people in activities across a wide spectrum including building credit, savings, debt reduction, first-time home ownership, mortgage default and delinquency, and home equity. Responsibilities include discussing and delivering options, making recommendations on debt, credit, assets and banking issues. You will create a realistic action plan for clients to achieve their goals. Through effective communications, you will help each client understand the role they play in the success of the plan. Position Details:

Compensation: $44,500 a year

You Have:
• College degree or a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience required
• Fluency in Spanish and English
• A strong knowledge of financial literacy and ability to communicate the information with integrity and empathy
• The ability to develop relationships with families and the community to spread awareness of Financial Literacy
• Passion for serving low-income populations and strong demonstrated commitment to social justice, various forms of equity and anti-poverty initiatives
• The ability to form strong, trusting partnerships with clients and provide financial coaching that is non-judgmental, empathetic and culturally proficient
• The ability to work during the business work week as well as evenings and weekends
• The ability to speak Spanish (not required)
Position Duties:
• Participate in intensive substantive coaching and counseling training in financial management, personal finance, credit, and pre-purchase and obtain designated certifications including from the
� National Foundation for Credit Counseling, the Department of Housing and Urban Development and NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership Education and Counseling, as necessary and within required timeframes.
• Maintain counselor certification by earning required number of Professional Development Units annually through counseling, continuing education and workshops or seminars.
• Provide high quality financial counseling and coaching sessions that promote financial stability and encourage access to Clarifi programs that further financial capability.
• Document recommendations in an individualized action plan and effectively communicate with clients so that clients understand their role in their own success.
• Conduct initial needs assessment, and refer clients to other service providers and other resources as needed.
