Clark County (Indiana) Code Enforcement/Compliance Officer

Clark County (Indiana) Government is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Code Enforcement/Compliance Officer. A detailed job description is attached.

In summary, this position is responsible for performing building plan reviews and inspections for compliance with commercial/residential/industrial building, plumbing, mechanical and energy codes, related county ordinances and safety standards. The person in this position is responsible for investigating violations and pursuing compliance with various sections of the Clark County Zoning Ordinance. This position is also responsible for permitting and assists in maintaining inspection documents and building permit records.

The regular days and hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Applicants must have a GED or higher level education and a valid driver's license; and be able to obtain ICC (International Code Council) or equivalent certification as a Residential Building Inspector within 6 months of employment. See the attached for additional requirements. All certifications require continuing education classes and must be kept current during employment.

Five (5) years of experience in code compliance/building inspections or five (5) years of journey level experience in general building construction preferred. Knowledge of building methods, techniques and materials, building codes and regulations preferred. The person in this position should have the ability to interpret architectural plans and specifications. See the attached for additional abilities required.

Physical requirements include the ability to exert light physical effort including lifting up to 25 pounds. This job requires the listed physical abilities including: to stand, sit, walk, climb ladders, bend, stoop and crawl in confined places. Applicants must be able to work in all outdoor conditions and possess the visual and hearing acuity to perform tasks related to the job.

The person in this position will operate out of the new Clark County Government Center located at 300 Corporate Drive, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Salary up to $42,000 commensurate with experience and certification.
