The Clark County Office of Communications and Strategy is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Executive Assistant to Deputy County Manager position. This position provides varied, complex, and often confidential liaison, communication, secretarial, and office administrative assistance to a Deputy County Manager and associated staff as designated. This position requires the frequent use of tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment. In the Office of Communications and Strategy, this position will also be depended upon to handle purchase orders, get quotes, and be a project manager. The ideal candidate will also have strong SAP financial experience.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of two years of college course work in business, office administration, management or a field related to the work AND four (4) years of full-time secretarial experience which has included providing office and administrative support to management staff. Experience in dealing with elected officials and/or in a public agency setting is desirable. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.
NOTE: Specific positions may require typing at a rate of 55 net words per minute from printed copy; may require skill in taking dictation at a rate of 80 words per minute by hand or stenographic machine and transcribing it accurately.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Represents the Deputy County Manager and the County and serves as liaison with County staff, representatives of other organizations and the public by obtaining and providing information, facilitating the resolution of problems and concerns and ensuring a timely response from the appropriate County department or agency.
Maintains a detailed calendar of events, meetings and other activities requiring the Deputy County Manager's attendance; ensures that the Deputy County Manager is cognizant of the calendar and has all required information and other materials for such functions.
Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, providing information and resolving complaints which regularly require the use of judgment and the interpretation of policies and procedures.
Researches, compiles and summarizes a variety of informational or statistical materials; contacts representatives of various County departments to obtain materials on behalf of the Deputy County Manager.
Relieves the Deputy County Manager of certain administrative matters by following-up on projects, transmitting information, and keeping informed of pertinent activities; arranges and prepares for department head and other meetings.
Maintains liaison with and follows-up with various County departmental staff to ensure the assignments, problems and concerns have been addressed.
Types drafts and a wide variety of finished documents from stenographic notes, brief instructions, or printed materials; uses word processing equipment and inputs or retrieves data and prepare reports using a computer system; initiates correspondence and varied written materials independently; reviews finished materials for completeness, accuracy, format, compliance with policies and procedures and appropriate English usage.
Organizes and maintains various administrative, reference, personnel and follow-up files.
Organizes own work, sets priorities and meets critical deadlines; ensures that such deadlines are met by other staff.
Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
Makes travel arrangements, reviews and prioritizes incoming mail, orders office supplies, provides for the maintenance of office equipment and follows-up on a variety of office administrative matters.
May direct the work of support staff on a project basis.
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
