Code Enforcement Officer

Clarksville Borough is looking for a part-time Code Enforcement Officer to work in the Clarksville, PA area. We are looking for a professional who is passionate about law enforcement and wants to make a difference in the community.

This position is 5 hours per week with a flexible schedule.

This position is responsible for:

• The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the practices and procedures related to property maintenance and become familiar with Borough regulations and ordinances.
• Must have skill and ability to interact with the public while maintaining respect for property owners and tenants.
• Individuals will conduct indoor and outdoor field investigations by vehicle and by foot; inspect properties for violations; issue and post warning notices, notices of violations, corrective notices, and orders to comply; while performing a variety of field and office work to support and comply with Borough regulations and ordinances.
• Responds to telephone complaints and other sources of information about possible violations.
• Researches deed registry and other sources of information (i.e. plot plans) to determine legally responsible parties for citation and/or legal action.
• Notifies owners of citations and/or legal actions by mail.
• Presents citations for violations in person.
• Re-inspects properties after citation.
• Prepares and submits cases to Magistrate.
• Attends court hearings.
• Maintains accurate records and files.
• Prepares reports on all assigned enforcement work.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with limited supervision while maintaining a high level of professionalism. They will need to be detail oriented, organized, have excellent communication skills, and be able to follow instructions. They must have the ability to handle stressful situations with grace and professionalism.

Requirements:

• Previous Code Enforcement, Constable or equivalent experience.
• The application must clearly show experience in a position with extensive public contact, including dealing with the public in an enforcement, inspection, or investigation capacity. Experience that includes the enforcement of municipal codes is highly desirable.
