Deliver patient care in accordance with standards set forth by Clarus Eye Centre. Prepare patients for eye examinations by physicians. Directly assist physicians in performance of clinical tasks

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of one-year experience in an ophthalmic practice is preferred.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) and Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technician (COMT) strongly preferred.
  • High School Diploma

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong technical proficiency and skills as outlined by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for patient work-ups. Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • History taking
  • Refractometry
  • Tonometry
  • Contact lens verification/ over-refraction
  • Intermediate diagnostic tests
  • Responsible for scribing physician's examination data. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Intermediate knowledge of ocular anatomy and terminology
  • Basic knowledge of correct coding criteria
  • Intermediate knowledge of ophthalmic services and procedures
  • Properly triage acute conditions in person or via phone conversation
  • Assist physicians with minor procedures
  • Assist physicians with advanced diagnostic procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires sitting for long periods of time. Must be able to safely assist patients in wheelchairs and walkers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.50 - $31.00 per hour
