What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Coordinator position at Classroom Champions?

Classroom Champions brings the elite athlete’s journey and mindset to teach kids critical skills to succeed in school and beyond. As Marketing Coordinator, you would take a leading role in executing on content creation and project management. You will shape powerful stories about the impact Classroom Champions has on students, teachers and communities. Your goals will be centered around generating brand awareness, fostering community and bringing a creative energy into making the day-to-day communications operations succeed.

Classroom Champions is a passionate team of former educators, communicators, athletes and doers who continually create opportunities to inspire kids. The organization is seeking someone for a temporary contract role, who understands storytelling and can create content to continually ladder up to the organizational needs and goals. The ideal candidate will not only understand digital best practices but has a track record of bringing impact to life.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Email Marketing

  • Craft emails for three monthly email campaigns along with standalone email sends that go to Classroom Champions’ customers and marketing lead email lists.
  • Coordinate across departments (primarily the education team) to bring relevant content to each email campaign.
  • Craft strategic messaging for event-specific emails (i.e. conferences, webinars, etc.) to bring newly generated leads down the funnel to learn more about the nonprofit. Ensure those emails are sent to the correct lists.

Content

  • Create content for our educator community.
  • Coordinate with development and design to create corresponding landing pages and creative assets for content and events.

Analytics

  • Collect social media, email, blog, and website analytics each month.
  • Update the content calendar for each month based on organizational priorities. Manage the day-to-day posting of social media across Classroom Champions’ channels.
  • Copywriting duties as assigned, such as support with newsletters or crafting marketing materials.
  • Monitor social platforms for posts to engage and grow audiences.
  • Project management: Collecting content across teams, updating the editorial calendar, informing teams of upcoming deadlines, creating project reports with insight and findings.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Copywriting experience (a plus if in the education landscape)
  • A solid understanding of producing content for teachers/the education landscape.
  • Design experience is a plus
  • Minimum three-years’ experience in marketing, journalism, communications, or other related fields. An excellent storyteller.
  • Experience at nonprofit and/or youth-development organizations is considered an asset.
  • Proven track record of growing an audience through social media and other platforms.
  • Web design or development experience is considered an asset
  • Collaborative, self-starter, organized and inquisitive.
  • Ability to productively make recommendations to the team to improve brand visibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of all social networking platforms
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada or US for any employer
