E-911 Dispatchers are responsible for answering 911 and admin calls, collecting information, and dispatching appropriate services (police, fire, EMS, ect..)
Job Requirements include:
High school diploma or GED.
Possession of, or the ability to obtain and maintain possession of all required certifications including, but not limited to, first responder/CPR, IDACS/NCIC, and emergency medical dispatch certifications.
Working knowledge of local geographical area and ability to read maps, use emergency code terminology, and quickly, clearly and calmy respond to phone calls during stressful situations.
Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Ability to type with speed and accuracy and properly operate a variety of standard equipment, including various computers, multiple phone lines, copier, and fax machines.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of department information and records according to state requirements and department rules.
Ability to serve the public with diplomacy and respect.
Ability to work with others and work as a team.
Ability to work on several tasks at the same time and work rapidly for long periods.
Ability to work weekends, holidays, evening hours, some overnights, and the ability to travel out of town for training.
