POSITION SUMMARY:
The HR Analyst I for the Benefits Unit performs tasks to process benefit abnormal benefit transactions and works with Technology to release data file transmission daily/ weekly. Analyzes semi-monthly reports for benefit payroll deductions. Works with State representatives for resolutions concerning file errors to avoid any lapse in coverage. Conducts regular audits for benefits compliance. Interprets policies and procedures when employees have questions regarding benefits. Analyzes data and provides support and cross-training for Federal Leave (Family and Medical Leave and Military Leave). Serves and supports leave requests within the District. This position reports to the HR Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as central resource for all activities related to the Benefits Unit. Gathers and maintains documentation relative to requests, and applies appropriate benefit regulations.
Provides guidance and assistance to supervisors, payroll contacts, and employees related to procedures for leaves, payroll, benefits, rights, and responsibilities, and maintains Family and Medical Leave-related leave records; monitors employee cases and statuses, and prepares special reports as required. Collaborates with Benefits, Payroll, and Worker’s Compensation regarding extended leave. Processes 403(b)/ 457-annuity payroll deduction changes semi-monthly and submits semi-monthly annuity remittance to Accounts Payable.
Collaborates with Technology Team to schedule and transmit automated, updated, and HR Interface files to benefit platforms and providers. Serves as Benefits Unit point of contact for District interface files associated with aligned workflows.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of administrative benefit experience at a mid-professional level required.
Prior experience coordinating within organizational departments; makes decisions and recommendations, which often affect the activities of others.
Must have the ability to use sound judgment and good decision-making ability: supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; must approve general recommendations.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance; requires continuing contact with officials at higher levels. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with inter-organizational teams.

NOTE: This is a grade 23, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
