POSITION SUMMARY:
Monitors and provides leadership in the coordination, development, and implementation of local school staff development within the District. Identifies areas for instructional improvement and works with appropriate personnel in intervention strategies and follow-up activities. This position reports to the Director of Professional Development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides on-site support and monitoring for the implementation of instructional strategies taught in staff development courses. Observes and conferences with teachers for the purpose of providing feedback on classroom strategies and improving instruction. Provides support to new and struggling teachers with instructional strategies, model teaching, effective instruction, classroom management, and other areas of concern based on individual teacher and identified school needs. Provides support for CSI & TSI schools.
Serves on appropriate district and staff development committees and assists with training local school staff as needed. Teaches classes and workshops at local schools and on-site about various instructional support needs including effective instruction, classroom management, teacher expectations, differentiation, explicit instruction, model teaching, critical thinking, content support to promote student achievement, classroom management, and other areas as identified that are aligned with compliance with Title IIA. Assists new and struggling teachers by promoting the integration of technology as classroom instructional strategies to promote student engagement in learning.
Assists in identifying staff development components for professional development. Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other system-level offices. Conducts action research and participates in ongoing training to remain abreast of current strategies that promote teacher effectiveness.
Attends area, state, and national conferences and meetings related to staff development.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in educational field required.
Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience in public education required. Knowledge of adult learning principles preferred. Experience teaching adults preferred.
Possesses proven record of working well with professional personnel at all levels of public education and within related professional organizations; makes decisions and final recommendations that routinely affect the activities of others.
Georgia Professional Certification at a Level 5 or higher in an educational field required. Valid GA driver’s license. Coaching, Teacher Support and Coaching, or Teacher Leadership Endorsement preferred, or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
High level of judgment and critical thinking skills; works collaboratively with a supervisor to review and approve executive-level decisions.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence, and requires decision-making responsibility in discussing issues of importance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals.
Follow protocol in decision making. Requires regular, frequent contact with external personnel of influence, and decision-making responsibility in discussing issues of importance. Requires excellent presentation, written, and verbal skills.
Applies technology concepts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of District; must be proficient with computer.
Normal school setting.
Requires travel to off-site locations and school site visits.
NOTE: This is a grade 28, 225-day position that pays for experience up to a Step 8.
Salary : $68,484 - $84,241
