What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Chemist position at Clean Harbors?
Clean Harbors in Cleveland, OH is looking to add a Lab Chemist I to our team. Our Lab Chemist I is responsible for sample preparation, the analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties.
Shift: 2nd shift- 3pm- 12am; Monday-Friday. OT and Saturdays will be periodically needed; Training will be completed on a 1st shift- will need to be available for 4-6 weeks for this to be accomplished.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times;
- Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health and Safety and Compliance protocols;
- Performs analysis of samples following prescribed procedures, with the ability to solve minor problems;
- Calibrates and utilizes instrumentation;
- Maintenance of equipment, suggests solutions to problems;
- Completes all paperwork associated with the analyses in a neat and timely fashion;
- Ensures that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines;
- Responsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility, including proper housekeeping and best management practices;
- Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures.
Key Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or physical science is required;
- 1-5 years’ experience in hands-on laboratory experience with wet chemistry testing methods;
- Ability to set up and conduct chemical experiments/tests such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and titrations preferred;
- Superior organizational skills coupled with a strong attention to detail;
- Effective communication skills in writing and in verbal, will be interacting with people of various education and technical backgrounds;
- Ability to work in a team environment.
