Logistics Coordinator
Summary of Position
The shipping coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments. This includes working with vendors as well as customers. This position will regularly interface with multiple internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
In addition to other duties as assigned or directed, the Shipping Coordinator will primarily be focused on:
- Aggressively review in and outbound shipments to delegate the best and most efficient way to ship products and handle traffic coming into our facility.
- Regularly obtain multiple freight quotes to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor freight bills for proper classifications used, any variances with accessorial charges to minimize our cost to bring product in and ship out.
- Review and recommend changes in buying patterns that may apply for savings.
- Handle the transport of inventory from and to an off-site storage facility.
- Work with Vendors and Freight companies to file claims for lost or damaged goods. File claims as required with carriers for missing packages and damages.
- Handle proper traffic and streamline the inbound loads to maximize cost and time efficiencies.
- Coordinate full truck and rail transfers of stock and keep on the market pulse to reduce costs on a daily basis working the market rates and try to establish contract rates.
- Work with international customers to provide quotes that include product and applicable shipping charges.
- Complete all necessary paperwork for outgoing international shipments in accordance with the law.
- Working with vendors on carrier transitions (i.e., discussing options, printing labels, approving changes)
- Working with carriers on import invoices.
Requirements
- Must be able to work on-site at our facility in Conklin, New York
- Must be familiar with all aspects of domestic and international shipping
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be proficient or better at Microsoft Excel
- Must have experience in providing customer service support
- Working knowledge of customer service software, databases, and tools
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment with competing demands
- Ability to think strategically and to lead
- Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills
- Customer service orientation

- Dependable with a strong work ethic
- College Degree Preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
