JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team! The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for assessing and providing treatment to individuals struggling with addiction issues and, when recommended, their significant others. In this position, you are responsible for supporting individuals on their journey of recovery by educating them on the skills needed to maintain long-term recovery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide therapeutic interventions in an intensive outpatient group setting for 3 hours per session, five days per week
- Provide individual and family-based therapeutic interventions
- Assess and support clients who are experiencing the disease of addiction or a substance use disorder
- Assess and support clients who may be experiencing co-occurring mental health difficulties such as depression, anxiety, or emotional dis-regulation
- Communicate effectively with other staff, clients, clinicians, parents or family members of clients, and outside patient providers
- Display hospitality to guests and clients, exhibiting a willingness to create a meaningful and uniquely better experience for our clients
- Maintain confidentiality for patients, families and center by abiding by all HIPPA regulations;
- Exhibit commitment and dedication to practicing ethically and equitably
- Learn and use company required software, such as Electronic Health/Medical Records
- Know and follow policies and procedures
- Display positivity and a willingness to encourage team morale
- Ability to perform other assigned duties/tasks
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a CIT, CAC, or RAC with the LA-ADRA
- Must be comfortable and competent in working with individuals who have experienced complex mental, emotional, or relational trauma
- Must be comfortable speaking in front of a group, and leading small-group dynamics Must have knowledge of Motivational Interviewing skills
- Must be committed to fostering a culture of recovery as clients start their recovery journey
- Must be well organized, be flexible, be patient, and be willing to learn
- Must participate in and contribute to a team work philosophy
- Must be energetic, motivated, self-sufficient, creative, and reliable
- Must complete and pass a full Louisiana State Police criminal background check, drug and TB screening
- Must possess basic First Aid and CPR certification, or be willing to get certified
- Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
