Title: Vice President of Engineering 

The Optiv ClearShark's Vice President of Engineering reports to the Vice President of Sales and leads Optiv ClearShark's team of Systems Engineers (SEs) who are the go-to technical experts assisting ClearShark's sales teams sales of products and services.  

The VP of Engineering recruits, hires, mentors, and retains systems engineers and establishes and maintains their effective alignment with sales teams. The VP of engineering provides high level technical guidance to sales teams. Partnering with VP of Sales, the VP of Engineering develops and establishes effective go to market strategies and provides technical and strategic guidance on OEM partner selection and maintenance of key OEM relationships. 

 Job Description 

The Optiv ClearShark Vice President of Engineering is responsible for all sales engineering strategy and efforts of the company to achieve the company’s objectives. This position reports to the Optiv ClearShark Vice President-Sales. 

Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Create, communicate, and implement the company’s sales engineering strategy and overall direction in alignment with sales and with Optiv Clearshark 
  • Collaborates closely with the Vice President of Sales to establish effective go-to-market strategies and growth initiatives   
  • Recruits, hires, mentors a diverse team of systems engineers ensuring alignment with the sales coverage and go-to-market strategy
  • Provides high-level technical guidance to Optiv ClearShark’s customers, partners, and sales team
  • Supports the Partners and Alliances leadership and broader senior leadership team providing technical and strategic guidance of vendor partner selection
  • Responsible for working with team to obtain required technical certifications to effectively support Government customers and achieving target vendor partner levels
  • Maintain strong understanding of Government regulations and directives and build key solutions to support these initiatives
  • Provide technical guidance and support for request for proposals (RFPs)
  • Promote company’s offerings, capabilities, and thought-leadership at conferences, forums, seminars
  • Refine and scale core sales engineering processes such as discovery, technical qualification, and proof of concept
  • Responsible for the Optiv Engineering Lab including defined solutions, leverage by our internal team and strategic partners
  • Establish and measure strategic goals that drive business growth
  • Oversee the fiscal activity of the engineering team including budgeting and reporting
  • Create an environment that promotes strong performance and positive morale
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of competition to improve company’s market position and share
  • Build senior level relationships with key technical stakeholders including customers, vendor partners, and channel partners
  • Participate in industry-related events or associations that will enhance leadership skills, the organization’s reputation, and the organization’s potential for success

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree / MBA or practical equivalent 
  • At least 20 years of federal IT industry-related senior leadership
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Ability to understand new issues quickly and make solid decisions
  • Ability to inspire confidence and create trust
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively, and delegate
  • Must be willing to travel at least 20%
