What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator position at Cleco?
The Rapids Warehousing Forklift Operator will perform various tasks associated with the movement of product, raw materials and other commodities in the plant in a safe, responsible manner following all safety rules and procedures. This position requires a high level of safety awareness while moving throughout the plant especially while operating mobile equipment.
This position is with Helena's manufacturing group which operates under the name Helena Industries or HI. HI's corporate offices are located in Collierville, TN, a suburb of Memphis. Rapids Warehousing is part of the HI family and is a commercial storage, logistics and supply chain partner that operates out of central offices located in Cordele, GA. What your day may look like
- Loads and unloads trucks received at the dock and completes related reports.
- Retrieves packaged deliveries, in-process products and finished materials from the warehouse by operating a forklift.
- Production forklift drivers deliver product/materials to the appropriate department and return finished good to the warehouse.
- Completes forklift inspection reports daily.
- Performs minor maintenance on the forklift and other related equipment.
- Adheres to all equipment safety expectations.
- Focuses on plant-wide safety needs while moving about the location.
- Assists in physical inventory and other inventory-related duties.
- Completes housekeeping tasks in the warehouse including maintaining work areas in an orderly fashion and keeping isles and exits open at all times.
- Maintains a clean work environment both inside and outside the facility by using good housekeeping habits.
- Complies with OSHA and MSDS standards.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
- Reliable and regular attendance is expected.
Education and experience needed for this position
- Ability to pass forklift operator certification is required.
- Must be able to read and write in English.

- Ability to work rotating shifts.
- May be required to pass OSHA respirator physical.
Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job
There are potential hazards associated with any chemical manufacturing business but at Helena Industries safety is our highest priority. We seek out extensive safety measures including engineered solutions and personal protective equipment and put them in place to minimize exposure to anything that could potentially be harmful to our employees.
The work environment for this position is that of a typical plant environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud. In this position, you will regularly work near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Lab and office positions at the plant would only have occasional exposure if they must go out into the plant.
