What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician - Biological Sciences position at Clemson University?
Facilitate research in the Rosowski lab and contribute to ongoing research projects by performing independent experiments and supervising/training students and new lab members. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - Facilitate research/lab management: lab inventory, records equipment, protocols, regulatory compliance, maintaining zebrafish colony, overseeing daily feeding, weekly/monthly water quality and system maintenance, checks, genotyping of animals, ensuring animal inventory is up-to-date.
50% - Essential - Contribute to research projects: Microbial cultivation, DNA cloning, RNA extraction, PCR assays, microinjection of zebrafish, confocal microscopy, participation in lab meetings, maintenance of an up-to-date lab notebook, training and supervising students and new lab members, optimizing and writing up lab protocols, presenting experiments and research findings at lab meetings and conferences, preparing and analyzing data for manuscripts.

This position includes work in a humid, warm zebrafish facility, may include work in cold rooms, use of mechanical equipment, and exposure to laboratory chemicals and biological materials. Position includes work with the fungus Aspergillus fumigatus which may be harmful to people with immunosuppressive conditions.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range ($ 29,100.00 - $ 33,270.00)

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
