Plans, designs, implements, and oversees a variety of professional and administrative duties and responsibilities relative to the instructional programs in Graphic Communication with minimal supervision. Schedules courses and provides support for the department's faculty, staff, and operations. Performs other duties as required.
JOB DUTIES:
30% - Essential - Enrollment/Registration/Room Coordination:
Manages all departmental data within the online registration system (iRoar). Develops the schedule for course offerings and classrooms each semester. Coordinates with faculty on course schedules and with other departments for classroom usage needs. Enters and updates all courses and instructor assignments for the department in the registration system. Ensures data in the registration system is accurate and up-to-date. Resolves scheduling conflicts or issues, such as class size exceeding capacity, adding sections, etc. during the registration period. Provides enrollment data and other reports, as needed.
25% - Essential - Academic Advising:
Serves as primary academic advisor for all freshmen, internal transfers, and students in probationary status. Counsels students in course requirements, careers, internships, registration, planning, and scholarships. Assists students with preparing class schedules and registration. Checks requirements for internal transfers. Maintains student advising records. Serves on college Academic Advising Committee. Serves as advising coordinator by assigning students to faculty advisors, entering advisor updates in the system, and developing advising resources (course requirements, prereqs, minors, software training). Provides advising and faculty load reports. Processes advisor changes & student change forms.
25% - Essential - Orientation Coordination, Recruitment, and Event Planning:
Implements orientation sessions to introduce incoming students to the Graphic Communication program and explain curriculum and departmental expectations. Prepares and updates orientation materials. Plans and conducts tours with prospective students and families. Represents the department at all recruitment events. Develops and updates promotional materials. Assists with planning and coordinating other departmental events.
10% - Essential - Departmental Administration:
Plans and coordinates student and faculty travel for conferences and other events, such as flight arrangements and accommodations. Manages departmental purchase card. Maintains inventory of laboratory equipment. Serves as back-up for the departmental Administrative Assistant and covers basic financial operations, as needed, in the absence of the Administrative Assistant. Hires, trains, and supervises student employee.
10% - Essential - Employer and Alumni Relations:
Maintains and updates the departmental database of corporate partners that support the program by hiring graduating students. Serves as point of contact for external companies seeking graduating students for employment placements. Represents the program, answers questions for potential employers, and assists with job postings on Clemson systems targeting Graphic Communication students. Maintains database of alumni and other individuals who support the department for targeted communications and engagement opportunities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's Degree and experience in student services programs.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Prefer graphic communication background, experience with Banner software.
