Cleveland-Cliffs Steel is seeking a Process Manager for our Riverdale operation in Riverdale, Illinois. The Ideal candidates enjoy working in fast paced, challenging environments and are willing to constantly raise the bar and improve on processes. Process Managers lead the steel making team to meet safety, environmental, quality and production goals. By working collaboratively with our bargaining unit, operations teams, and outside contractors.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. Perform safety, quality, and environmental audits on a timely basis.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot operational issues.
- Troubleshoot casting and LMF steel making process issues and machine quality performance.
- Analyze and research operational and maintenance delays and provide solutions and improvements.
- Work with operations, engineering, maintenance, and other technical resources to drive results.
- Directs salary and bargaining unit employees to accomplish work and provide guidance on technical and personnel issues.
- Lead on jobs during outages and be able to work extended hours.
- Monitor the operational work of external contractors.
- Coordinate with the Caster, LMF, BOF and Hot Strip Mill to optimize daily production
- Maximize maintenance repairs during planned and unplanned downtime
- Respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate production and safety concerns.
- Responsible for 2 LMFs and 1 thin slab caster
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma
- 3 or more years in heavy manufacturing
- 1 or more years of management experience
- Able to manage and direct Union workforce
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or technical equivalent experience
- 5 or more years in Steel Making Process
- BOF, Secondary, Ladles or Primary Experience
- 5 or more years of management experience
- Successful track record working with a represented workforce in a heavy industry
- Knowledge of safety and health policies including OSHA regulations.
