Senior IT Applications Engineer

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Senior IT Applications Engineer (Microsoft .NET Developer) at our East Chicago, Indiana facility. As a Microsoft .NET Developer, you will be part of a team providing development and support for the commercial order management systems. The focus areas include sales order entry, forecasting, customer master, pricing, data warehousing, interfacing between systems, and metric reporting. Daily activities will include participation and lead in the design, development, testing, and implementation of changes to web and windows (batch) applications. Experience in the entire systems development life cycle will be required as you will be working directly with business departments to understand requirements, develop functional/technical specifications, development, testing, implementation, and support.

Summary Of Responsibilities

• Gather detailed business requirements to deliver changes from the business user groups.
• Design, develop, test, & implement changes to Commercial Web and Windows applications.
• Be the technical expert to manage the production environment for the supported systems.
• Coordinate ongoing communication and support with business users.
• Responsible for application design by having a good end to end knowledge of the business process and how the various applications fit together.
• Ensure all production documentation is up to date including functional specifications and test cases.
• Ensure all new developments conform to standards.
• Project management including the ability to manage own work.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• 10 years of experience developing Web and Windows Applications and Services including HTML5, CSS (Bootstrap), AJAX, Dependency Injection, and JavaScript.
• 10 years of experience in the Microsoft Development stack: ASP.NET Core 6, ASP.net Core Identity Security, MVC, C#, Entity Framework, LINQ, jQuery, Blazor Server, Asynchronous Programming.
• Excellent SQL Server skills including experience with current versions of SQL Server and a deep understanding of T-SQL, complex Joins, Stored Procedures, and Triggers.
• Experience and understanding of the full SDLC including gathering business requirements, designing solutions, and working with stakeholders to test and implement the solutions you build.
• Experience working on large enterprise applications.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience with Classic .ASP, VBScript
• Participation in at least three enterprise development projects.
• O365 Microsoft tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, MBA or equivalent.
• Microsoft Certification (Developer or Solution Architect) with 10 years of web/windows development experience.
• Experience with Microsoft .Net Architecture design in an enterprise organization.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Synapse and/or Dev Ops.
• Experience working in commercial applications.
• Manufacturing experience.
• SAP S/4 HANA (1709 or higher) experience.
