Supports and teaches expectant fathers, post delivered parents in the postpartum period and the community in a structured classroom program using an interactive teaching style. Serves as a resource person to support the Cleveland Clinic Birthing and Neonatal Services, as well as the community. The Boot Camp for New Dads program is based on the premise of "Men teaching men about becoming fathers". This position will be filled by a male applicant with experience in group facilitation, and fathering. Candidates with Boot Camp for New Dads Master Coach Training certification preferred. The National Boot Camp Training Center Saint Joseph Hospital 1375 19th Ave Denver, Colorado 80218. The cornerstone of any successful Boot Camp for New Dads program is an informed, energetic, and fully prepared coaching staff. Responsibilities:

  • Supports and teaches expectant fathers, post delivered fathers in the postpartum period and the community in a structured classroom program using an interactive teaching style.
  • Serves as a resource person to support the Cleveland Clinic Birthing and Neonatal Services, as well as the community.
  • Teaches class content as developed and approved by Boot Camp for New Dads national organization.
  • Utilizes skills and teaching ability to transfer information from class curriculum to class participants with positive client evaluations.
  • Operates and troubleshoots facility AV equipment.
  • Utilizes current knowledge of maternal/child recommendations and best practices.
  • Teaches according to approved departmental outlines.
  • Utilizes group facilitation skills and creative, interactive methods.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to expectant fathers, veteran fathers, and other male family members in a supportive and interactive teaching environment.
  • Maintains class equipment and handouts in orderly and professional manner.
  • Communicates client, staff and educator needs/concerns to manager/administrative assistant in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate's Degree; Bachelor degree preferred.

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire; Certification in area of expertise if relevant.

Complexity of Work:

  • Supports and/or teaching expectant fathers, and post delivered fathers.
  • Demonstrated the ability to transfer information from class curriculum to class participants with the use of creative techniques.

Work Experience:

  • Preferred experience: 1 year experience or certification/demonstrated knowledge in the specialty area of instruction.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
  • Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
  • Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as appropriate.
