Personal Trainers are responsible for physical assessments, exercise prescription, exercise floor coverage, equipment cleanliness/preventive maintenance, policy enforcement, member exercise incentive programming and delivering excellent customer service at all times.

- Schedules and administers computerized Health Risk Appraisals and Physical Fitness Assessments to new and existing clients at least three times per year.
- Prescribes individual exercise programs that follow the guidelines adopted by Akron General LifeStyles based on assessment results and client goals.
- Maintains a record of past and present clients' attendance and payments.
- Reviews all policies and procedures with each client verbally.
- Provides floor coverage during times of need.
- Follows the established procedure for repair of equipment found to be malfunctioning.
- Displays proficiency in the operation of the computer hardware and KI software.
- Follows system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
- Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in athletic training, physical therapy, exercise physiology, exercise science, physical education or other related discipline or specific certification in personal training required.
Certifications:
- None required
Complexity of Work:
- Excellent communication and customer service related skills required. Ability to work variable hours as necessary. Possesses a professional attitude and demeanor. Capable of maintaining positive ongoing communications with clients and staff.
Work Experience:
- Experience in the administration of physical assessments, exercise prescriptions and program development. Basic computer operational skills preferred.
