Position Overview:
The Technical/Grant Writer plays a pivotal role in securing funding for various projects and initiatives within the organization. This individual is responsible for researching, writing, and coordinating grant proposals, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. The role requires a strong understanding of technical concepts, excellent writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Grant Research:
- Assist in Identifying potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources.
- Conduct thorough research to understand the requirements, priorities, and eligibility criteria of each funding opportunity.
- Keep up with emerging trends and changes in grant-making policies and procedures.
2. Proposal Development:
- Collaborate with project managers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to gather relevant information for grant proposals.
- Write clear, compelling, and technically accurate grant proposals that effectively communicate the organization's objectives, methodologies, and outcomes. - Ensure adherence to grant guidelines, formatting requirements, and submission deadlines. - Develop budgets and budget justifications in coordination with finance and program teams.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
- Serve as a liaison between the organization and funding agencies, responding to inquiries and providing updates as needed.
- Facilitate communication among internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on grant-related activities.
- Collaborate with development and communications teams to leverage grant successes for fundraising and public relations efforts.
4. Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of grant strategies and processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance technical knowledge and grant writing skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., technical writing, english, communications, public administration,social work/psychology, science, engineering).
- Strong understanding of technical concepts and ability to translate complex information into clear, concise language.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in Google Docs, Adobe, and other relevant software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to the organization's mission and values.
Preferred skills:
- Generative AI (ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) experience.
- Experience in project management.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
