Apply to be a Seasonal Part-time Greenhouse Associate to support the rapid growth of our brand, Pepper Joe’s in Urbana, IA.  

Since 1989, Pepper Joe's has found, grown, and enjoyed super-hot peppers from all over the world. In 2021, we built a greenhouse on the grounds of our location in Urbana, IA. This is where we are growing the plants and harvesting the seeds for all the Pepper Joe’s products!

This seasonal role will provide critical support for multiple steps in the operational process. As a result, our customers will receive a world class product delivered through world-class service. Consistency in this area will further the reputation of Pepper Joe’s a provider of high-quality pepper seeds, products, and service.  

Key Areas of Responsibility 

• Responsible for prompt, accurate implementation of all assigned tasks and all assigned customer service and order fulfillment tasks related to the operational process of Pepper Joe’s. 
  • Fulfill seed, seedling, and pepper orders 
  • Plant, harvest and seed peppers 
  • Operate shipping systems 
  • Maintain inventory levels of various products 
  • Identify efficiencies within existing processes 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications 

• Proven ability to work unsupervised – self-motivated 
• Exceptional work ethic 
• Give great attention to detail within existing processes  
• Look at existing processes with curiosity leading to innovation and increased efficiency 
• Basic Math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division 
• Horticulture experience is preferred 
• Available to work Monday - Wednesday between 7:00a – 5:00p. Flexibility in scheduling can be done to achieve the desired 24 hours per week. Typical schedule is 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm.

Physical Requirements 

• Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time (5 hrs. or more) 
• Physical mobility to reach, bend and stoop 
• Have good range of motion with extremities requires repetitive work 
• Can lift 50lbs or more when required.
• 18 years or older.

Starting pay: $12.00/hr

Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check.
