What You'll Do/Need (Job Summary): Leads, Manages, & Holds Burning Department responsible for daily production. Daily duties will require working directly with the Plant Manager, Master Scheduler, other Production Supervisors, and CBA Employees. Sets, executes, and reports daily and weekly KPI’s for their team. Responsible for meeting & surpassing team goals and metrics. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities)
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment. The emphasis on safety must be proactive at all times.
- Supervises, leads, and hold direct reports accountable for meeting & surpassing set and measured goals for all burning tables/process and grinding work stations
- Meets due dates on daily production schedules
- Provides status updates on jobs regularly and proactively reports on-track/off-track status
- Ensure outstanding product quality by making sure that all processes are followed correctly and documented
- Provides training and cross training to direct reports to achieve proper bench depth for all operations
- Production line cleanliness and upkeep requires equipment to be kept in good working condition
- Ensure all daily checklists and documents are completed
- Ensure direct reports are following job operations and meeting/surpassing labor times allotted.
- Proper staging and placement of material based on plant plate process flows and mapping
- Will be required to cross train as acting supervisor for other production lines to ensure proper production coverage
- Ensure that labor hours are reported correctly into MRP/ERP System: this includes proper execution of direct/indirect codes to measure and meet utilization targets
- Constantly strives to improve on overall efficiency and throughput by means of continuous improvement through people, process and equipment
- Actively drives a passion for continuous improvement within the team and overall Plant Operations
- Conduct Weekly Departmental meeting to review current state of KPI’s, develop/discuss new ideas, and action items to improve production operations
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities required)
- 2 Years of relative experience in Manufacturing and/or Industrial environments
- Experience in supervision, specifically direct reports
- Basic knowledge of metals/steel
- General Industrial knowledge
- Experience in burn table operation and materials management

- Experience in Steel plate cutting/burning operations (plasma/oxyfuel)
- Experience/Working knowledge of Heat Treat Furnaces, Industrial combustion units
- Has worked with Labor MRP/ERP software’s; Epicor/Kinetic a plus
- Leadership skills that create buy in to change initiatives and compliance with performance goals
- Teamwork and continuous improvement type mentality, Problem Solving skills
- Experience working with or in a CBA/Union environment; Supervising Union/CBA employees

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical first shift days and hours of work week: Monday through Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. However, physical presence on second shift is required occasionally as well as weekend hours as job duties demand.
Travel
This position requires minimal (5-10%) travel to suppliers, customers, trainings, etc...
