What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool Die Maker position at Climatech?
Position Summary: Uses general hand tools to perform light repair and preventative maintenance on extrusion tooling and manufacturing equipment. General housekeeping of shop, work bench area and equipment.
Job Description:
1.) Preparation and machining of all raw materials for making new tooling. This includes general bench and machine operations. Able to follow either verbal or documented instructions in machining.
2.) Plan, layout and perform bench and machine operations to construct, alter and repair intricately designed and constructed tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges and machine attachments.
3.) Documents repairs and replacement components on all tooling and fabrication equipment. Maintaining existing work history files and develops new files as necessary for new and existing tooling and equipment.
4.) Plan, communicate and work with Tool Shop Lead to maintain inventories of all machine tools, supplies and raw materials needed for making new tools, this includes the maintenance of shop equipment. Monthly and year-end inventory completed accurately and on time.
5.) General maintenance of machine shop machines/EDM machines and the housekeeping of the shop to ensure a clean, organized and safe environment. This includes the entire shop, work benches, parts, raw materials and parts area.
6.) Other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position. Complete special projects as assigned by the Tool Shop Lead and Plant Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A team player possessing excellent math, critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. The ability to comprehend written documentation, engineered drawings and use precision measuring instruments. Ability to use hand held tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and basic tool shop machines (mill, lathe, surface grinder, etc.). Able to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment, work under pressure and time deadlines. A self-starter with an organized, results oriented approach. Must have the basic necessary tools to perform the job.
