Compensation: $20.29 - $26.45 (based on years of experience)

Summary:
The CMA Training Specialist performs training functions and support with clinical staff in a variety of clinical departments. This individual works under the direction of the Clinical Services Lead and collaborates with other Training Specialists and interdisciplinary teams to deliver clinical training and compliance with best practices. Duties may include managing tracking of clinical certifications and licensures, coordinating and teaching in-house BLS courses, and serving as liaison to external organizations.

Principal Responsibilities:
1. Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within.

2. Works with the clinical services team to review, plan, and implement hands on trainings and support with clinical staff. May present trainings and activities for clinical staff members within their own scope of practice.

3. Teaches BLS renewal training classes for TCC staff. Supports with the scheduling of BLS courses, and monitoring of resuscitation certification course supplies and other administrative duties.

4. With direction from the Clinical Services Lead, actively participates and supports the onboarding process for clinical new hire staff and clinical students.

5. Assists with skill-based trainings, annual skills competency events, and in-services to support initial and on-going clinical competence of all clinical staff, as assigned.

6. Conducts chart audits as assigned, to ensure accuracy of documentation and quality audits.

7. Assists in creation of facility and electronic medical records related workflow/guides for clinical staff.

8. Assists in monitoring and tracking compliance of license and certifications renewals as related to staff roles, as assigned. This includes nursing, certified medical assistant, and other clinical staff (EMT, COA). Updates in learning management system monthly.

9. Assists in the development program for Clinical Staff Preceptors, establishing expectations and facilitating staff development in these areas with direction from the Clinical Services Lead and in collaboration with the Training Specialist(s) and pertinent interdisciplinary teams.

10. Improves the quality of care through continuing education and self-evaluation. This includes attendance/participation in most in-services/department meetings and remaining current on clinic/department policies and procedures.

11. Assists with investigations by Risk, Safety, and other departments, as assigned. Maintains confidentiality regarding sensitive matters.

12. Assists with development and implementation of emergency response trainings and mock codes.

13. Supports with monitoring of clinic emergency response supplies, as assigned. Participates in Rapid Response team, as assigned.

14. Participates in organizational committees and workgroups.

15. Participates in provision of direct patient care and clinical support to provider/clinical teams to aide in the training process.

16. Travel to/from clinic locations required.

Education, Licensure and Experience:
1. Certified Medical Assistant (current CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or RMA certification), required.

2. Three (3) years’ clinical experience in an outpatient clinic setting as a Certified Medical Assistant required, five (5) years’ experience preferred.

3. Previous experience leading or teaching in a healthcare setting preferred.

4. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.

5. American Heart Association BLS Instructor certification within 90 days of hire, required. Must maintain certification to meet requirements of this position. Current certification as AHA BLS Instructor preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
1. Evidence of working knowledge of and ability to perform the Certified Medical Assistant role to a high standard, per national standards of practice.

2. Strong electronic health record experience and proficiency.

3. Excellent interpersonal communication (both oral written).

4. Ability to present clear, concise training information and review learner application of knowledge.

5. Ability to work professionally with internal external customers and agencies as well as patients.

6. Ability to effectively prioritize multiple concurrent projects, and complete tasks in a timely manner to meet organizational training needs.

7. Competency in ability to initiate solving problems, adapting to change in the healthcare environment and work in varied department and care settings.

8. Ability to work independently and prioritize workload to complete projects and assignments in a timely manner.

9. Recent experience/knowledge of quality-based measures highly desired.
