Busser/Barback Job Description
Title: Busser or Barback
Reports to: Restaurant Manager
Summary of Position:
Bussers and Barbacks are responsible for assisting servers and bartenders, in keeping the restaurant clean and making our customers’ visits more memorable. Bussers are primarily responsible for turning a table once the customer has left before a new customer arrives. Barbacks are primarily responsible for keeping the bar stocked, store rooms and keg cooler organized and cleaned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Be able to communicate and understand English.
- Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate Micros system.
- Must have customer-orientated approach and patience along with excellent people skills.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Understand completely all policies, procedures, standards,
specifications, and guidelines. - Be on the floor in full uniform, smile included, with a positive attitude, a thorough understanding of the day’s specials or any product changes & special events, and ready to go 5 minutes before scheduled time.
- Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times.
- Clear and set up tables after the departure of a guest: ketchup, salt and pepper shakers are full and clean to the touch, table tents are clean, silverware and napkins are stocked
- Assist servers and bartenders as needed
- Clear everything the guest is not using from the table: pre-bus continually throughout a guest’s meal
- Assist servers in making popcorn as needed and keep popcorn bowls stocked
- Assist in opening and closing procedures
- Check bathrooms at least once per hour to ensure cleanliness and full levels of paper towels, toilet paper and soap
- Change the bag-in-a-box soda syrups and juices as necessary
- Stock and organize the server stations: glasses, appetizer plates, napkins, iced tea, fresh coffee, full and clean condiments, coasters, to-go boxes, clean sanitizer buckets, etc.
- Barbacks should ensure that enough product is stocked the bar for that shift
- Complete daily cleaning duties
