Director of Clover Academy

 

Job Summary:

Provides instructional leadership and effective management for school staff and students in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive educational program that is administered following all applicable laws and school board policies, administrative rules, and regulations. Ensures that the school is a safe, inclusive, positive, and productive work and learning environment; coordinates school activities; communicates information to staff; addresses situations, problems, and conflicts that could negatively impact the school or district.

 

Qualifications:

Master's Degree and adequately certified as a Secondary Principal by the South Carolina Department of Education Must have at least three years of successful teaching experience. At least three years of experience as a school administrator is preferred.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Fosters the success of all students by facilitating the development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of a shared vision of learning. Establishes and promotes high standards for academic performance and responsibility for behavior that is consistent with the philosophy of education approved by the trustees of the Clover School District.
  2. Serves as the instructional leader and administrative head of the school and, as such, has responsibility for evaluating instructional programs, coordinating the total resources of the school, and general supervision of all school activities and safety.
  3. Ensures a safe, orderly environment in accordance with district policy. Implements policies and rules governing student life, conduct, and behavior fairly and equitably.
  4. Prepares a school budget under the direction of the district office and keeps accurate records related to the school's receipt and disbursement of funds. Prepares and submits the school's budgetary requests and monitors the expenditure of funds.
  5. Selects, inducts, supports, evaluates, and retains high-quality instructional and support staff.
  6. Utilizes various data, including but not limited to achievement scores, grades, formal assessment results, summative assessment results, student discipline reports, and perception surveys, to create a school-wide approach to raising achievement and creating a positive school climate while promoting the development of specific, measurable goals for student achievement.
  7. Cooperates with recognized social and law enforcement agencies so that the services of these organizations are directed toward the school's best interests.
  8. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field, etc.
  9. Serves as a liaison between the school and community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.
  10. Plans, evaluates, and recommends school-wide programs, policies, and goals, and ensures that all district procedures are effectively explained and implemented.
  11. Monitors progress of students within the program and makes data-informed placement decisions.
  12. Meets regularly and works cooperatively with building principals to discuss student progress and program structure. 
  13. Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the superintendent or his designee.

Essential Functions: 

In addition to the physical and mental capabilities implied by the responsibilities detailed above, the essential functions for this role include the following: reading, writing, hearing and speaking effectively, analyzing data, and occasionally lifting/moving items weighing up to 25 pounds, sitting, walking, and standing. The job tasks are performed near other people.  The job of the Director involves adapting to a changing educational environment and, therefore, while accurate, is not exhaustive. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Specific skills required to perform the functions of the job satisfactorily include: using pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects. 

 

Specific knowledge required to perform the job functions satisfactorily includes applying pertinent laws and regulations relating to education, concepts of management, and supervision.  Specific knowledge on effective delivery of online instruction and mechanisms for monitoring and supporting students on an online platform. 

 

Specific abilities required to perform the job's functions satisfactorily include providing leadership, direction, and team building; maintaining confidentiality; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as a team; and working with frequent interruptions. 

 

Terms of Employment: 240 Days

Immediate Supervisor: Chief Student Services and Secondary Education Officer

 

Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated following provisions of the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Administrators

 

Compensation: District Salary Schedule- Administrative Level 3
