GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Manage/drive product quality and response-time improvements to minimize product issues encountered by Club Car and the end customer due to supplier responsible defects. Manage/drive improvements in global supplier warranty cost. Drive timely and robust supplier corrective actions to improve customer satisfaction. Ensure all new/changed purchased parts have appropriate quality approval prior to manufacturing use. Engage Engineering and Sourcing leads to develop suppliers and improve supplier performance. Lead, develop, and manage Supplier Quality team.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensures a safe workplace is provided for all employees. Completes accident reports and schedules appropriate follow-up reviews, as needed.
- Lead and manage the Supplier Approval process. Manage approved listing of suppliers to mitigate organizational risks. Collaborate with key procurement stakeholders for supplier strategy development.
- Develop and implement supplier performance tracking system (i.e., scorecard, glide paths, Master Timing Plans).
- Directly manage SQ Team activities, from budgets to strategic focus. Mentor and develop direct staff and provide consistent, actionable feedback.
- Establish and attain Supplier Quality performance goals and improvement objectives for the company.
- Establish performance metrics, policies, and procedures in administering quality relationships with suppliers globally.
- Prioritize schedules of supplier audits and potential suppliers in the new supplier approval process for the internal audits team as well as oversight for corrective actions from the suppliers.
- Travel to supplier locations for onsite support.
- Work with Engineering, Plant Operations, Procurement and other functions to drive part and supplier improvements.
- Lead the supplier optimization and supplier development effort.
- Drive supplier PPAP Master timing plans, glide paths, and submission and approval dates to ensure adherence/compliance to program timing.
- Monitor supplier performance to program deliverables and part quality. Develop and implement countermeasures as needed. Oversee and support the supplier corrective action process.
- Drive implementation of new internal programs, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement projects with suppliers.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and developments.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory agency, government regulations, contract specifications, and company policies/procedures.
- Provide support and leadership for supplier development initiatives.
- Other duties, as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree Engineering/Manufacturing/Quality required.
Experience:
- 10 years work experience in Manufacturing. Automotive experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and timekeeping software such as ADP.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to enhance a team environment, including development of team-oriented leaders and members.
- 5 yrs experience managing salaried and hourly employees in manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform problem solving using a structured approach.
- Able to make timely decision in stressful situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management.
- Understanding of General Manufacturing best practices, fabrication operations and equipment are required.
- Exceptional leadership, motivational, and project management skills with the ability to drive project-specific issues and goals to closure.
- The ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings and tolerances to define supplier quality inspection and process controls.
- Demonstrated knowledge of APQP and PPAP processes.
- 25-30% travel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work requires periodic stooping/bending and frequent walking/standing throughout day.
- Requires occasional lifting of objects less than 25 pounds as well as occasional lifting of objects 25 to 50 pounds.
- Work involves activities that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, or vehicles.
- Requires use of protective clothing.
