What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent position at Club Hire?
The Polo Club of Boca Raton located in Boca Raton, Florida is seeking an attention to detail oriented, driven and professional Assistant Superintendent to be entrusted with development and management of the golf course. The individual should desire to accelerate into a Golf Course Superintendent position within the next 2-3 years.
The facility will be undergoing a $9.7M renovation including new irrigation systems, greens, tees, bunkers, cart paths and is slated for a driving range renovation in 2023. The individual will be exposed to a large scale renovation, while also developing the daily agronomic, interpersonal and managerial skills to succeed in the turf industry.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $50,000 to $60,000
- Vacation - 1 week after a year, 2 weeks thereafter

Initial Priorities of the Position:
- Learn culture and daily operations, so they can effectively perform hands-on duties including fertilizer, pesticide applications, water management, course set up and maintenance.
- Active in scheduling, developing and overseeing staff including safety training and quality control.
- Develop rapport with team and direct report, so they can make an immediate impact on the 2022 season.
- Actively participate in various areas of golf course renovation/construction program
Preferred Qualifications:
- A 2 or 4 year degree/certificate in agronomy horticulture /plant/soil sciences
- Four to ten years related experience is preferred
- Ability to obtain a Florida pesticide license
- Knowledge of the construction, establishment, and maintenance practices employed on golf course putting greens, tee, fairways, roughs, and bunkers; planting and culture of turfgrasses used on golf courses; the planting, cultivation, and pruning of ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditions; pesticide control methods and materials; drainage methods; and watering practices and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls.
- Demonstrates proficient mathematical, reasoning and computer skills.
