CMIT is looking for a Regional IT Field Engineer with Hospitality experience to join our team. This position acts as the onsite IT support presence for a group of hotels primarily located in the New Orleans metropolitan area. The Regional IT Field Engineer will work closely with both CMIT’s help desk and engineering teams. The position acts as an onsite resource for escalated tickets that cannot be resolved remotely by the help desk as well as hands on work with engineering to install new hardware as required.
Responsibilities:
- Handle all onsite desktop, server, and network related issues as escalated by help desk
- Onsite assistance to engineering in managing hands on project activities
- Provide excellent customer service to our clients and partners
- Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment addressing issues escalated by both phone and ticketing system
- Follows up with team members to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Setup of desktop and laptop computers
- Understanding of IT security and ability to identify and escalate policy violations
- Contribute to company knowledge base and continually work to keep documentation up to date
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned
Required Technical Proficiencies:
- Working knowledge of hospitality infrastructure technology
- Working knowledge of all hardware, hardware build, configuration, compatibility, upgrades, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of server and desktop-based systems, including security methodologies
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting capabilities of the operating systems and OS modifications
- Working knowledge of computer security best practices
- Working knowledge of networking/distributed computing environment concepts
- Overall knowledge of the computing environment at large, e.g., typical uses and user populations of operating systems, communications protocols, hardware platforms
- Experience with Hospitality Systems, Including Opera, Micros, Room Keys, HSIA, digital signage, etc.
- Experience with the following manufacturers networking equipment, including HP, Cisco, SonicWALL, Ruckus
- Experience with WAN/LAN Network Engineering and Operations
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the New Orleans area
- Read, write, speak and understand English fluently
- Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal and written communication and the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to use standard computing tools: Word processor, spreadsheet, browser, email, and file compression software
- Ability to work flexible days/hours – some on-call duty based on business demands

- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
