Site Reliability Engineer

CoverMyMeds’ network includes 75 percent of electronic health record systems (EHRs), 50,000 pharmacies, 750,000 providers, and most health plans and PBMs. The Role & What You'll Do: As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you would look to solve complex operation problems using modern software engineering practices to accomplish segment initiatives and goals. Engineers will help facilitate the creation and implementation of tools while continually iterating and improving the systems responsible to maintain. You will apply software engineering practices to your work and enable our services to better adapt to changes and failure scenarios. Writing software to manage the entire lifecycle of our infrastructure and build tools to help ensure it stays healthy will be a large part of this role. Utilization of monitoring and alerting to identify ongoing incidents is a key part of our reliability model. When an outage occurs, engineers are expected to improve this monitoring to help tune automation to resolve issues quickly and as effectively as possible. SREs also help conduct post-mortems and RCA to improve system reliability in long term ways and support dev team enablement. Focus is put on making codified changes that create routines and repeatable patterns over direct management of systems. SREs are expected to be experienced high level engineers with well-developed critical skills that can work with peers to accomplish team and company initiatives. This work will range from independent tasks to team collaboration depending on the nature of work. Engineers will create and follow auditable patterns to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies. On a scheduled basis engineers will have on-call responsibilities to handle off-hours incident response and resolution for supported platforms. Role Responsibilities Ensure the availability of production environments by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health Automate tasks, identifying process gaps, and finding automation opportunities especially around toil reduction. Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications Measure and optimize system performance and innovating for continual improvement Provide guidance and expertise on application operation to other team members and teams within the organization. Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams. Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large-scale distributed software applications Required skills and Qualifications 6 years of experience in software development, systems engineering, or site reliability engineering 6 years of experience managing, or administrating Linux server operating systems 2 years of experience using Git based version control systems (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc.) and git branching strategies Demonstratable proficiency with one or more shell, scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, etc.) or similar programming languages (.NET, Java) Desired skills and Technical Experience Microsoft Azure experience Docker and Kubernetes Configuration management (Ansible/AWX, Puppet) Hashicorp products (terraform, consul, vault, etc) Proven incident/problem solving Ability to analyze highly complex systems with specific attention to detail Team player mentality with specific focus on inclusion Excellent verbal and written communication skills Previous success in technical engineering Coding experience beyond simple scripts At CoverMyMeds, we care about the well-being of the patients and communities we serve, and that starts with caring for our people. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
