Summary:
The EH&S Manager provides technical safety and health support to wireless construction and corporate personnel. Develops safety and health programs and objectives and coordinates safety training programs. Monitors safety and health regulations and provides technical support to construction site and corporate personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Knowledge of the wireless industry and tower construction is a must.
Conduct safety and training classes multiple times a month.
Works closely with staff in engineering, human resources, legal and operations
Provides technical safety and health support and information to field and corporate personnel
Prepares written safety and health programs and policies
Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs
Develops annual company safety and health goals
Manages Annual Safety Budget to include spending approvals within the safety department
Participates in process hazard analyses, operator training, etc.
Supports corporate/operations to implement controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards
Supports site personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment
Maintains corporate safety library (e.g. videos, regulations, reference manuals)
Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda and training programs
Assists as necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports
Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur
Audits practices and records of construction sites to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations
Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker’s compensation claims and reports to executive management team
Responsible for incident response oversight, management, coordination, and communication
Reviews injury/illness and non-injury investigation reports and follows up as necessary
Responsible for the maintaining and executing OSHA 300 logs
Active role to include presenting the weekly Ontivity safety call
Active participation and engagement with Company’s Safety Committee
Manages the Safety and Data Sheet (SDS) program
Maintain third party vendor management system(s) to include procuring and uploading Certificates of Insurance, Corporate Information, and Safety Policies or Programs (e.g. Avetta, ISNetworld)
Works closely with insurance provider(s) and broker to include claim management, audits, and annual reviews
Responsible for Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) / Department of Transportation (DOT) program
Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms
Occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing and participate in random testing program
Position requires working in all conditions including outdoors and in a professional office atmosphere
Must possess valid driver’s license and be able to drive a company vehicle(s)
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be detail-oriented
Must have strong organizational, time management and prioritization abilities
Must be a team player and possess excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
Experienced in OSHA regulations and the implementation of those regulations
Project planning skills
Supervisory Requirements:
This position is responsible for staffing and supervision of Safety Manager (s) and/or Field Safety Inspector(s) within the Safety department.
Responsible for the coordination and scheduling of Safety Manager/Field Safety Inspector(s)
Responsible for conducting Annual Performance Review(s) of subordinates
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some overtime requirements. Weekends as needed.
Travel
Extensive travel to job sites is required for this position
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent preferred
Five to seven years of proven safety management experience required
Knowledge of construction safety measures and accident prevention required
Telecommunication Tower Industry experience is required.
